Knee Clip

10 suggested reps
Origin

A timing technique - an interruption of gait rather than a kick - drawn from the karate concept of go no sen (response after the initiation).

Purpose

Collapse forward pressure with a subtle knee redirection they can't see coming.

The Walk-through
01

The knee clip lives in the half-beat between your opponent's steps. As their lead foot lifts, your rear knee travels forward and inward, meeting the inside of their supporting knee.

02

Drive through the target rather than into it. Their step collapses, their weight buckles inward, and their upper body pitches forward.

03

The clip is a setup, not a finish. Chain immediately to a palm heel or elbow while their posture is broken, then return your kicking leg to a covered stance.

Key Points
  • 1Time it to their step
  • 2Drive through, not into
  • 3Chain to an upper strike
Common Mistakes
  • Kicking straight forward instead of inward across their line
  • Timing on their static stance rather than their step
  • Stopping after the clip without following up
  • Squaring your hips and losing your covered angle
When to Use
A pressure fighter marching you downDuring a jab or lead-hand feint when their weight shifts forwardAs a stopper against a shooting takedown attempt
